Designed for classroom or office use — full color, Times New Roman font.

Overview

Slide 2 / 10

This slide shows the goals: get your Ledger out of the box, create a PIN, back up your recovery seed, install Ledger Live, and transfer assets safely. Expect about 10–20 minutes for the full setup if you follow each step carefully.

Prerequisites

Slide 3 / 10

Before you begin, have the following ready: your Ledger device (Nano S Plus, Nano X, etc.), a computer or phone, a USB cable (or Bluetooth for Nano X), and the supplied recovery sheet or a secure alternative for writing the seed.

Important

Never accept help that asks for your recovery phrase. Ledger support will never ask for your full recovery seed.

Unboxing & inspection

Slide 4 / 10

Check the tamper-proof seal. Inspect packaging and device for damage. Confirm model and serial match the box label. If anything looks suspicious, contact Ledger support immediately.

Keep the box and packaging for warranty and proof of purchase.

Step 1 — Initialize the device

Slide 5 / 10

Power on your Ledger and choose to set up as a new device. Create a secure PIN (6–8 digits recommended). The device will show a series of words — this is your recovery phrase. Write it down exactly, in order.

Step 2 — Install Ledger Live & apps

Slide 6 / 10

Download Ledger Live from the official website. Install the appropriate apps (Bitcoin, Ethereum, etc.) on your device via Ledger Live. Use the built-in manager to add or remove apps when needed.

Step 3 — Receive & verify

Slide 7 / 10

Generate a receiving address in Ledger Live, verify the same address on the device screen, then send a small test transaction. Confirm on-chain receipt before moving larger amounts.

Security best practices

Slide 8 / 10

Keep your recovery phrase offline — written on the supplied sheet or on metal backup. Do not share the phrase. Enable additional safeguards like passphrase (advanced users) only after understanding the risks.

Backup tip

Use a fire- and water-resistant metal backup if you hold significant funds.

Troubleshooting & FAQs
Slide 9 / 10

If the device won't power on, try a different USB cable or port. For software errors, update Ledger Live and device firmware. If you lose your device, your recovery phrase can restore funds on a new Ledger or compatible wallet.
